Warriors drop nail-biter at Tournament of Champions

TORRANCE, Calif. – The Warriors faced the Moorpark College Raiders on Thursday night in the first game of the El Camino College Tournament of Champions. The Warriors battled back with a chance to send the game to overtime, but ultimately fell to the Raiders 85-82.

The Warriors were down 53-42 at the end of the first half, but turned the momentum around in the second.  The Warriors took their first lead in the game with seven minutes remaining by a jumper from Donaven Tillett. Four minutes later, Martyre Demarco's back-to-back 3-point shots kept the game within one for the Warriors.  

With less than a minute to play in the game, the Warriors trailed by six points, but another three from Demarco pulled the gamed within one possession with 38 seconds left. The Warriors forced a turnover, but they could not convert on their two attempts to tie the game.

Jamal Heckard led the scoring for the Warriors with 15, followed by Che Madrid with 14 and Martyre Demarco with 12.

The El Camino Warriors are 3-1 to start the season. The Warriors face Santa Ana Friday night in the El Camino Tournament at home at 7:00pm.
