TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College scored 46 unanswered points and cruised to a 60-7 National Northern League victory over visiting Antelope Valley on Saturday night at Featherstone Field at Murdock Stadium.
The Warriors (6-2, 4-1) passed for 331 yards and added 293 with the rushing attack to blast the visiting Marauders (1-7, 0-5).
Seven different players scored a touchdown on Saturday while the defense racked up a season high six quarterback sacks while holding the Marauders to just 164 total yards of offense in a dominating performance.
Dayton Tafoya went 9-for-15 passing with 197 yards and two touchdowns while Champion Edwards added 134 passing yards on 12-for-19 passing with a touchdown. Edwards also led the Warriors with 75 rushing yards, most of that coming on a 70-yard TD run in the second quarter which marked the start of a string of 46 unanswered points by the Warriors to turn a 14-7 lead into a rout.
Kendal Taylor had 74 rushing yards on six attempts and two touchdowns while 11 different receivers caught a pass on the night, led by Moses Ross' 61 yards on two catches. Marceese Yetts and Joshua Lorick each scored a touchdown through the air.
Defensively, Cohen Fuller tied for the team lead with six tackles including one sack and 1.5 tackles for a loss. As a team, the Warriors recorded six sacks and 15 tackles for a loss while also adding nine quarterback pressures and six passes defensed on the night. Cristian Galaviz added an interception and Cameron Set-Chan led the team with 1.5 sacks. He also forced and recovered a fumble on the night.
Saturday night marked only the second meeting between the Warriors and Marauders and first at ECC. The Warriors defeated the Marauders 38-17 on Sept. 9, 1989. The Warriors also scored 60 points for the second time this season while gaining 600-plus yards offensively for the second time.
The Warriors will return to action next week on the road against Ventura at the VC Sportsplex with kickoff set for 6 p.m.
