Myriad of Warriors Earn All-Conference Honors

2017 SCFA National Division, Central League All-Conference Teams

El Camino College received 14 selections to the 2017 Southern California Football Association's National Division, All-Central League Team, it was released Saturday.

The 2017 Beach Bowl champions received six selections to the All-Central League First Team and eight selections to the second team. The Warriors selections were evenly distributed as the offense and defense each had seven representatives on the 2017 All-Central League Team.

FIRST TEAM SELECTIONS – OFFENSE

Stephon Robinson, Wide Receiver

A unanimous selection to the first team, Robinson had a record-setting freshman campaign in his first year at ECC. He terrorized opposing secondaries with seven 100-yard receiving performances on the season including the final four games of the 2017 season. Robinson became the all-time single-season receiving record holder after finishing 2017 with 62 catches for 1,274 receiving yards, eclipsing Marcel Reece's stellar 2005 season when he made 49 catches for 1,128 yards for the Warriors, a team that defeated Riverside in the National Bowl. Robinson achieved the milestone despite a slow start to the season, making just one catch for five yards in his debut against L.A. Southwest in the season opener, a game in which the Warriors set a new scoring record in a single game with 74 points.

Torrance Brumfield, Running Back

Despite featuring a variety of running backs this season, Brumfield emerged from the pack as the top option for the Warriors by season's end. The sophomore out of Crespi High School led the team with 530 yards on the ground in 100 rushes, scoring three touchdowns on the ground. Brumfield was also a threat through the air as he made 23 catches for 288 receiving yards with one touchdown.

FIRST TEAM SELECTIONS – DEFENSE

Klayman finished the season with 2,309 passing yards and went 140-for-213 with a 65.7 completion percentage. He tossed 21 touchdowns and just seven interceptions, earning two SCFA Offensive Player of the Week Awards during the season. Klayman earned Offensive Player of the Game honors at the 2017 Beach Bowl after going 14-for-24 for 265 yards with two touchdowns.

Kevin Boermeester, Place Kicker

Although he missed four games due to injury, the Warriors kicker was close to automatic on field goals this year, going 7-for-8 including hitting a season-best 44-yard field goal during the year. He also converted 28 extra points in 33 tries.

Okalani Taufahema-Langi, Utility

The Warriors short-yardage back, Taufahema-Langi did not light up the stats sheet but was critical for the team inside the 5-yard line. The back had 20 carries on the year and scored touchdowns on six of them.
