Warriors Duo Snags Co-Player of the Week Honors

Quarterback Cole Klayman and wide receiver Stephon Robinson were named Southern California Football Association National Central Conference Co-Offensive Players of the Week, it was announced Tuesday.

The Warriors duo helped lead an ECC passing offense that racked up 371 yards in the air in Saturday's 58-23 victory over Grossmont. Robinson accounted for nearly half of the Warriors receiving yards, racking up 159 yards on just four catches, averaging 39.8 yards per reception. He and Klayman connected for touchdowns of 80 and 48 yards.

As for the Warriors quarterback, Klayman followed up a perfect day passing in week two with a five-touchdown performance for the Warriors on Saturday night. Klayman went 12-for-16 for 276 yards and five scores including three touchdown passes of 30 yards or more in his first start of the season.

In three games this season, Klayman has passed for 568 yards on 27-for-34 passing and is ranked second in the state with 10 touchdown passes.

As for the Warriors, the team's offense currently ranked first in the state in scoring (62.7 ppg), third in total yards per game (556.7), total rushing yards (638) and rushing yards a game (212.7), passing yards (1,032) and pass yards per game (344.0) and touchdowns in the red-zone (12-21).

Defensively, ECC is ranked first in the state in interceptions (10) and tied for third with three defensive touchdowns. The Warriors are also second in the state in points allowed (33) and points allowed per game (11.0). The defense is also ranked third against the rush, allowing 50.3 yards on the ground per game.

Through the first three games, the Warriors have outscored their opponents 188-33. The team was ranked No. 7 in this week's JC Athletic Bureau Poll of California Community College Football Coaches and the CCCSIA Poll. The Warriors are also ranked No. 17 in this week's JCGridiron.com Dirty 30 National Rankings.

This week, the Warriors will hit the road and face No. 5 Saddleback in a battle of top-10 teams. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
