Cormier Takes Home Defensive Player of the Week Honors

SCFA Week 1 League Players of the Week

El Camino College defensive back De'Edward Cormier made quite the impression in the 2017 season opener as the sophomore took home the first Southern California Football Association Central Division Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced Monday.

While the offense was busy setting a new single-game scoring record, Cormier was a big contributor to a defense that allowed just 76 yards of total offense against L.A. Southwest on Saturday night.

Cormier recorded two interceptions on the day and returned them for 57 yards. He also had three tackles (one solo) and one pass break-up.

The Warriors will look to move to 2-0 on the season this Saturday afternoon as they open the home portion of their schedule against Moorpark. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. The Warriors will also honor the 1987 National Championship team in a halftime ceremony.
