Torrance, Calif. - Sophomore Zaire Andre scored on a 20-yard pass from sophomore David Sills with the Warriors converting on a 2-point attempt to take a late lead, but a quick 31-second drive by Bakersfield upended the Warriors 42-38 on Saturday evening.
The Warriors (2-3) battled back from a 12-point deficit going into the fourth quarter, scoring first on a six-yard Sills run before the Andre reception with 39 seconds remaining. But two big receptions by the Renegades and a one-yard touchdown run with three seconds left sealed the game.
In the game, Sills went 15-for-23 with three touchdown passes and one touchdown run. Freshman running back Johnnell Jackson, who opened the game with a 66-yard touchdown run, led the backs with nine attempts for 119 yards.
Defensively, freshman defensive back Shahman Moore counted a team-high seven tackles.
The Warriors have their bye week before heading to LA Harbor on Saturday, Oct. 15. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
