Baseball Drops Series to Mounties in Extras

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College suffered an 11-2 South Coast Conference loss to Mount San Antonio in 12 innings on Thursday afternoon at Warrior Field.
The Warriors dropped the series to the Mounties after losing game one on Tuesday in Walnut. On Thursday, the pitching was stellar on both sides through 11 innings before the Mounties finally broke through against the Warriors bullpen in the 12th, sending 14 batters to the plate and scoring nine runs off three different Warriors relievers.
Offensively, the Warriors had seven hits on the day, six coming off Mounties starter Hudson Castillo. Gil Solis went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored while Caden Lewis was 2-for-5 with an RBI.
Starting pitcher Adrian Pineda was outstanding as he went eight innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on six hits. He walked two and struck out seven.
But the Warriors' offense went dormant after the fifth inning as the Mounties bullpen retired the final 21 Warriors hitters in order.
The Warriors will look to avoid a sweep on Saturday afternoon at Mazmanian Field with a 12 p.m. first pitch.
