Offense Stifled as Warriors Fall to Delta

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College suffered a 7-2 loss to San Joaquin Delta in the final game of the SoCal Challenge on Saturday afternoon at Warrior Field.

The Warriors' offense struggled on the day, recording just two hits through eight innings before adding two more hits and a run in the final frame.

Matt Hammond, Cameron O'Neil, Gil Solis and Hector Gonzalez accounted for the Warriors' offense on Saturday with a hit apiece. O'Neil and Hammond each recorded a double.

On the mound, Adrian Pineda took the loss after going six innings and allowing three runs on seven hits. He walked one and struck out seven.

He was outdone on Saturday by Delta's Thomas Meyer, who picked up his first win of the season with seven innings of work. He allowed one run on two hits, walked three and struck out five.

The game was close through six innings with both starters keeping their opponent's offense quiet. But the Mustangs broke through against the Warriors' bullpen, scoring four times on seven hits in the final three innings to put the game away.

The Warriors will return to action on Thursday as they hit the road to face Mt. San Jacinto for the first of two games this week. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
