Warriors Fall to LA Pierce At Home

TORRANCE, Calif. - The El Camino College Warriors baseball team lost their first game of the season 12-6 against LA Pierce on Thursday afternoon at Warrior Field. 

The Warriors took a 2-1 lead in the second inning before surrending the lead for good after the Brahmas put up seven runs in the third inning.  

The Warriors slowly begin chipping away at the lead and got it down to four runs twice before running out of steam in the later innings.

The top of the Warriors lineup did most of the damage agaisnt the Brahmas. Lucas Bonham went 3-for-5 with 2 RBIs. Ryan Matsukawa went 2-for-4 and Slater Nunez went 2-for-4 with 3 runs scored. Matt Hammond went 1-for-3 with three RBIs including his first bomb of the season on a solo shot over the right centerfield wall.  

Tyler Tellenbach drew the start for the Warriors and bore the brunt of the damage after surrending 8 runs on 10 hits in 2.2 innings of work. Kona Agena made his pitching debut and tossed four innings in relief and allowed two earned runs. Will DeBlanc tossed the final 2.1 frames and allowed just one hit and one unearned run.

The Warriors are back in action tomorrow as they host LA Mission for Game 2 of the SoCal Challenge. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m.
