Warriors Drop Series Opener vs Mt. Sac

TORRANCE, Calif. - The El Camino College Warriors baseball dropped their series opener 4-2 against Mt. Sac at Warrior Field on Tuesday afternoon.

The Warriors dropped to 20-18 overall and 11-11 in South Coast Conference play.

The Warriors offense were outhit 8-to-5 for the game.  Mason Martinez went 1-for-3 with his first career home run in the 3rd inning. Luke Elward got the start and went 7 innings allowing 4 runs (3 earned) on 7 hits, 5 walks, and struck out two batters.  Jake Fallon tossed two scoreless innings in relief.

The Mounties scored twice in the second inning for the first runs of the game.  

The Warriors got one run back after Mason Martinez led the third inning off with a towering home run over the left field fence to make it a 2-1 game. 

The Mounties added a run in the fourth inning to extend their lead to 3-2. 

The Warriors loaded the bases with two outs in the fourth inning.  Jack Nammack was the first on board with an infield single to short.  Mason Martinez walked and Ryan Matsukawa was hit by a pitch.  Nammack scored on a wild pitch to make it a 3-2 game.  Connor Meidroth hit a hard grounder to shortstop to end the frame for the Warriors in the inning.

The Mounties added another run in the sixth inning to take a 4-2 lead.

The Warriors got a runner to third base in the fifth inning and sixth inning and another runner in scoring position in the eighth inning, but they weren't able to cash any of them in.

The series shifts to Mt. Sac on Thursday for the Warriors final road game of the regular season.  First pitch is set for 2:00 PM.
