Chaotic Third Inning Costs Warriors against Ventura

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College had one rough inning against Ventura on Thursday afternoon and it was the difference in an 8-6 loss at Warrior Field.

The Warriors held the visiting Pirates scoreless in seven of the nine innings but it was a six-run third for Ventura that proved to be the difference.

In the frame, the Pirates sent 10 men to the plate and recorded six runs on five hits with two Warriors errors mixed in to boot to give the visitors an 8-2 advantage, one they would not relinquish.

Joey Replogle and Eric Perez each had two hits for the Warriors in the losing effort with Perez smacking a home run in the third inning while Replogle notched two doubles.

The Pirates had eight of their nine starters record a hit on Thursday with Jacob Tostado supplying their only multi-hit game as he went 2-for-4 with three RBI.

The Warriors will now return to action on Saturday afternoon when they host College of the Desert for a 1 p.m. first pitch.
