Warriors Rally For Win over Chaffey

TORRANCE, Calif. - After letting Chaffey rally back from 5-1 lead, the Warriors rallied late with five runs of their own to win 10-5 over the Panthers on Friday afternoon at Warrior Field. 

The Warriors pounded out a season high 16 hits against the Panthers.  Joey Replogle led the Warriors after going 5-for-5 from the dish with 2 runs and a RBI.  Ryan Matsukawa, Lucas Bonham, and Connor Meidroth all had multi-hit games as well. Eight of the runs scored today for the Warriors came with two outs in the inning.  

Jason Davis drew the start and went 6.1 innings and allowed five runs on seven hits, six walks, and five strikeouts.  Colin McNeal picked up his second win of the season after tossing 2.2 scoreless innings on zero hits, three walks, and two strikeouts.

Chaffey took the lead 1-0 in the second inning before the Warriors responded in the third inning.

With two outs, Joey Replogle had a knock to right field.  Matt Chavez worked a walk and Eric Perez drove both runners in on a deep fly ball over the centerfielder's head.  Matt Hammond kept the inning alive after reaching on a fielding error to second and Perez was able to score to make it 3-1. 

The Warriors added two more runs in the fourth inning.  Ryan Matsukawa doubled to the left-center gap to drive in Mason MartinezJoey Replogle doubled on a base hit down the right field line to bring in Matsukawa to make it 5-1.  

Chaffey added two runs in the fifth inning after loading the bases on a base hit, hit by pitch, and walk to start the inning.  Jason Davis walked the next batter to bring in a run and allowed a sac fly to bring in another run before inducing a 5-4-3 double play to get out of the jam. 

The Panthers tied the game at 5-5 in the seventh inning.  Yahir Ramirez singled to lead off the inning and stole second.  Paul Torres doubled in Ramirez to make it 5-4 and Ryder Young had a base hit up the middle to make it 5-5.  Colin McNeal came in to pitch for Davis after and he walked two batters and struck one out to load the bases.  McNeal was able to escape the jam after getting a 6-4 putout to end the frame for the Panthers.

The Warriors were able to respond right away in the bottom half of the inning.  After Matt Hammond singled to start the inning.  Christian Miranda came in pinch hit with two outs and kept the inning alive with a base hit to right field to put runners on the corners.  Matsukawa tripled to the right-center gap to score both Hammond and Miranda to give the Warriors back a 7-5 lead.

The Warriors added their final three runs of the game in the eighth inning.  After Joey Replogle led the inning off with a double, Eric Perez walked, and Lucas Bonham singled to load the bases with two outs.  Mason Martinez hit a knock to center field to drive in two runs to make it a 9-5 game.  Chris Marquis hit a slow roller to third base that forced an error by the Chaffey third baseman to bring in another run to make it 10-5.

McNeal walked a Chaffey batter to start the ninth inning but erased him immediately on a double play during the next at-bat.  He struck out the next batter to pick up the win for the Warriors.

The Warriors will head to Cypress College for their next game on Sunday, February 4th at 12 pm, weather permitting.  The Warriors will return to Warrior Field on Tuesday against the Chargers for a 1 pm start.
