TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College jumped out in front early but could not hang on in a 5-3 non-conference loss to visiting Cypress on Wednesday afternoon at Warrior Field.

The Warriors (6-4) took an early 3-0 advantage against the Chargers (7-3) but never scored again after the third inning as the visitors scored five unanswered runs to take the win.

Ethan Felix led the offense as he went 2-for-3 with a two-run triple and Dylan Knowles went 2-for-4 with a run scored. But the rest of the Warriors combined to go 2-for-26 and the Warriors had just four base runners after the third inning.

The Warriors had a great chance to pull even in the seventh when they trailed 4-3, getting the first two runners on base on a hit batter and a walk. Julio Camarena laid down a sacrifice bunt to move the game-tying and go-ahead runners into scoring position but Brendan McAndrews struck out and Daniel Murillo grounded out to end the threat.

The Chargers would add an insurance run in the eighth as reliever Josh Landry shut the door, completing a four-inning save allowing just one hit and two walks while striking out four.

The Warriors will look to bounce back quickly as they host L.A. Mission on Thursday afternoon for a 2 p.m. first pitch.
