Warriors Defeat West LA at Home

TORRANCE, Calif. - The El Camino College Warriors baseball team defeated the West LA Wildcats 4-1 on Friday afternoon at Warrior Field.

The Warriors (3-2) won their third game in a row and third game of the week.  West LA dropped to 0-5 for the season.

Anthony Joya picked up his first win of the season.  Joya labored through five walks in five innings but was able to fan 10 batters and give up just one run on four hits.  Elijah Tolsma picked up the save after tossing the final four frames and allowing three hits, one walk, and striking out five.  Alexander Galvan took the loss for the Wildcats after giving up three runs on six hits.

The Warriors offense was led by Ethan Felix who went 2-for-4 with a home run and 2 RBIs.  Julio Camera had three base hits and went 3-for-4 for the game.

The Warriors struck first in the first inning after a leadoff single by Camerena.  He was wiped out on a fielder's choice by Connor Meidroth but Ethan Felix sent one deep over the LF fence to give the Warriors an early 2-0 lead.

The Wildcats got one run back in the second after loading the bases with one out.  They scored on an RBI single by Ian McVey but Joya was able to pitch out of the jam after inducing a ground out and a strikeout to end the frame.

The Warriors responded immediately in the bottom half of the inning.  Jake Harper reached on a fielder's choice and after another Camerena single, Harper advanced to third on a misplayed ball by the center fielder.  He came around to score on a fielder's choice to make it a 3-1 game.

Both offenses went cold for the rest of the game after a couple long early innings.  The Warriors added a run in the sixth after taking advantage of three hit batsmen by Wildcat pitcher Anthony Rubio.  Daniel Murillo brought in a run on a sac fly to make it a 4-1 game.

The Warriors will look to cap off a perfect 4-0 week after taking on Mt. San Jacinto on Saturday.  First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
