TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College dropped a 16-10 South Coast Conference contest to Long Beach on Saturday afternoon at Warrior Field.
The Warriors (9-6, 0-3) were swept by the Vikings (8-6, 3-0) and were outscored 30-14 in the series. It is the first time the Warriors have started SCC play with three straight losses since 2015 when they went 0-6 to start conference play. In that season, the Warriors were also swept by the Vikings to open conference play.
On Saturday, the Warriors pitching staff had its worst performance of the season. Seven pitchers combined to allow 16 runs, 10 earned, on 15 hits. They walked a season high 10 batters, nearly doubling the previous season high of six walks back on Feb. 18 against Chaffey.
The Warriors will return to non-conference action on Tuesday as they host Santa Barbara for the beginning of a three-game series. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
