Haus’ Dominant Effort Leads Warriors Past West Los Angeles

TORRANCE, Calif. – Right-hander Kenneth Haus was outstanding on the mound and El Camino College got contributions from up and down the lineup en route to an 8-2 non-conference victory over West Los Angeles Tuesday afternoon at Warrior Field.

Haus went seven innings on the mound for the Warriors (15-12) and scattered four hits, keeping the Wildcats (3-22) off the scoreboard. He walked two and struck out 10 and stayed unbeaten on the season, collecting his fifth win.

The Warriors tallied eight hits on the day from seven different players. Joseph Borges led the way in his first start since returning from an ankle injury. He went 2-for-4 with a RBI while Jose Ruiz Jr. and Cody Wissler each had one hit to go with two RBI.

The game was put away in the first inning as the Warriors tallied three runs when the Wildcats could have gotten out of the frame unscathed. After starter Eli Saucedo set down the first two batters of the inning, he drilled Spencer Palmer in between the numbers to put a base runner on.

Matthew Beserra stepped in and hit a pop fly just behind first base. Wildcats second baseman Reuben Hill II sprinted toward the spot but overran the ball and it dropped for a base hit to put runners on the corners.

Ruiz Jr., Wissler and Borges all made the Wildcats pay with RBI singles and put ECC up 3-0 early and they never looked back.

The two teams will tangle once more on Wednesday afternoon with the Wildcats serving as hosts. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
