Rashi Overpowers Huskies as Warriors Claim 13th Straight Win

TORRANCE, Calif. – Taylor Rashi struck out a dozen over six-plus innings of work as El Camino College continued its winning ways with a 7-0 South Coast Conference victory over East Los Angeles Saturday afternoon at Warrior Field.

The Warriors (21-2, 8-0) rode Rashi's excellent outing to their 13th straight win as the right-hander went six and 1/3 innings en route to his sixth victory of the season. He struck out 12 Huskies (11-11, 4-4) including five straight at one point. He tossed an immaculate inning in the fourth inning, striking out the side on nine pitches and 10 of the final 11 outs he recorded came via the strikeout.

Ryan Eastburn led the offense with his eighth multi-hit game of the season, going 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two runs scored.

Darian Sylvester and Trevor Casanova each hit a home run on Saturday as the Warriors tallied nine hits on the day including five for extra bases.

The Warriors took the 1-0 lead in the second inning as Angel Mora led off the frame with single through the right side. Eastburn followed with his first double of the game, a screeching liner over the glove of the first baseman and down the line to put runners on second and third. Noah Barba then grounded out to second to plate Mora and give the Warriors the early lead.

It stayed that way until the fourth when the Warriors capitalized on some Huskies miscues to expand the lead. Eastburn reached on an error and advanced to second on the play. Barba then doubled to the opposite field to bring in Eastburn for a 2-0 advantage. With two outs, Hunter Lewis hit a routine fly ball to right but Kyle Francis had the ball pop out of his glove, allowing Barba to walk home and make it 3-0 Warriors.

The inning started a snowball effect as the Warriors scored in every inning from that point on including Casanova's leadoff bomb over the scoreboard in right-center field in the fifth and Sylvester's solo shot off the top of the wall in left-center in the sixth.

Jake Carr worked the final two and 2/3 innings out of the bullpen for the Warriors. He allowed two hits and struck out one, helping the Warriors complete the shutout in the process.

ECC will begin SCC-South Division action on Tuesday as the Warriors travel to Cerritos College to take on the Falcons.
