Three Run Homerun From Darian Sylvester Helps The Warriors Defeat Pasadena 9-3

TORRANCE, Calif. – The Warriors faced the Pasadena City College Lancers Saturday afternoon, winning 9-3. The Warriors are now 2-0 in conference and 15-2 overall.

Taylor Rashi started on the mound for the Warriors, pitching out of a jam.  In the bottom of the 2nd, Angel Mora and Ryan Eastburn started off the inning with back-to-back hits. Noah Barba advanced Mora and Eastburn with a sacrifice bunt, however the Warriors ended the inning with nothing to show.

Rashi stayed hot, shutting down the Lancers again in the top of the 3rd. In the bottom of the 3rd the Warriors got on the board. Trevor Casanova started the inning with a base hit and Brady Dorn followed scoring Casanova. Mora continued the streak, hitting a double and bringing in Dorn. The Warriors were up 2-0 heading into the 4th inning.

The Lancers answered back getting a run on the board in the top of the 4th.

Rashi held the Lancers to one run on the board through the 7th inning. In the bottom of the 7th, Barba and Connor Underwood were hit by pitches. With runners in scoring positions, Hunter Lewis singled to right field extending the lead 3-1. Darian Sylvester followed hitting a three run homerun and the Warriors were up 6-1 heading into the 8th.

In the top of the 8th, Rashi held off the Lancers again. In the bottom of the 8th, Lewis hit a double down the third base line, bringing in the 7th run. With runners on second and third, Casanova singles to centerfield bringing in two runs. 

Kenneth Haus was brought into relieve Rashi. Haus walked in a run and Trevor Talpas came into pitch with the bases loaded. Talpas pitched out of a jam with runners in scoring positions, ending the game 9-3.

Rashi allowed one run and four hits in the game. He added, "I felt good. I feel like I got better as the game went along. I started off slow in the first inning, but as the game went along it got a lot easier and I got better."

Coach Nathan Fernley added, "I thought it was good game. Rashi was really tough today. They got four hits off of him and two of them were just balls that found their way into the outfield. I think he is the story of this game."

The Warriors play at Chaffey College Tuesday at 2:00 pm.
