Waters and Leilua Advance to Regionals

Aiko Waters and Phina Leilua had a great showing at the South Coast Conference Championships and qualified for the CCCAA Regionals with a runner-up finish on Friday at Granada Beach in Long Beach, Calif.

Waters and Leilua were the only squad to advance for ECC as the other four pairs fell just short. Natasha Dutko and Jossie Tomita went three sets in their first match but could not pull out the victory.

Jaylin Motley and Sarah Dyer were the only other Warriors pair to win their first round matchup but fell in the quarterfinals. The duo still had a shot to qualify in the consolation bracket as a No. 6 seed but dropped that matchup.

As for Waters and Leilua, the duo made their way through the bracket and played for the inaugural SCC Pairs Conference title against the team of Tatyana Tuilaii-Umi and Jordan Diaz. The magic ran out though as they fell to the LBCC team in two sets.
