Bio

Jeffrey Miera was named the Director of Athletics in August 2021. He served as the interim A.D. beginning in April 2020. 

He joined the El Camino College Athletics Department in August of 2017 and had served as the Athletics Specialist prior to being named the interim A.D. 

As the Athletics Specialist, Miera oversaw the eligibility and compliance of the department and the 22 athletics programs offered at ECC.  Some of his other many duties include game management, tracking academic progress of student athletes, handling requisitions and purchase orders, arranging travel and transportation, coordination of officials, assisting with rentals/events on campus, and serving on numerous committees.

Prior to joining ECC, Miera worked for the City of El Segundo.  He spent time overseeing an aquatics facility which housed practices and games for the El Segundo High School Aquatics programs, as well as community swim lessons.  He also managed multiple adult sport leagues for the City of El Segundo and supervised an after-school facility for at-risk youth. 

Miera also served as an assistant coach of the El Camino College baseball team as a part of Nate Fernley’s coaching staff.

Miera attended El Camino College from 2009 to 2010 where he played on the baseball team under Nate Fernley. He went on to earn an NCAA Division I scholarship to attend and play baseball at Indiana State University. 

Miera earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from Indiana State University, where he attended from 2010-12. Miera also played baseball for the Sycamores and played in an NCAA Regional with ISU at Oregon in 2012.

After graduating from ISU, Miera attended Concordia University in Irvine, Calif. from 2014-16 where he earned his master’s degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration.

Miera attended El Segundo High School where he was a two-sport athlete, competing in football and baseball.

He enjoys watching, following, and participating in sports of all kinds and is an avid fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Lakers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and FC Barcelona.  He also enjoys traveling and spending time with his family and friends.
