Bio

David Cardona came to El Camino College after recording one of the South Bay area’s fastest 1600m times at North Torrance High School. Cardona led the Warriors to the 2009 Conference Cross Country Title and placed second overall in the 2009 Cross Country State Championship in his first season.  In the 2010 Track and Field season, Cardona won the South Coast Conference title in the 1500m and 5000m.  He would go on to win the Southern California 1500m title and the State Championship 5000m title that same season. 
 
In his second year at El Camino College, Cardona went undefeated in conference, Southern California and the State Championships, winning the 1500m and 5000m state titles. During that historic season, Cardona set four course records and led the Warriors to the South Coast Conference title. Cardona was the South Coast Conference Cross Country and Track & Field Athlete of the Year in his two seasons at El Camino College.
 
He is the ECC school record holder in the 1,500m and 5,000m and among the ECC top-10 Lists in the 3,000m steeplechase and 3200m relay. He was also named the 2011 ECC Athlete of the Year. Cardona went on to continue his collegiate career at California Polytechnic State University where he helped the Mustangs win their 12th Cross Country Big West Conference Title.
