El Camino College Hall of Fame Committee Announces Class of 2024

TORRANCE, Calif. --- The El Camino College Hall of Fame Committee is pleased to announce the induction of the 2024 Athletics Hall of Fame Class, which will be inducted on May 30, 2024 on the campus of ECC.

The 13 individual inductees this year exemplified what it means to be a member of the Warriors during their time at El Camino College. The inductees span eight sports and more than 40 years of excellence on the field of play along with meritorious service for the athletics program.

The ceremony will be held at the Athletics Multi-Purpose Room inside the ECC Gym Complex (GYM 216) with doors opening at 5 p.m. for a social hour. Dinner and the presentation will begin at 6 p.m.

The 31st class of the ECC Athletics Hall of Fame is:

  • Daniel Carter (Track and Field, 1973-74): Carter won the state championship in the long jump in 1974 and set the ECC record in the event with a mark of 25 feet, 6 inches which still stands to this day. He also competed in the high jump and the triple jump along with the 100-meters. Carter would go on to transfer to San Jose State where he competed for two years. He also qualified for the 1976 Olympic Trials in the long jump.
  • Jackie Fleury (Men's Basketball, 1979-81): A two-year competitor for the men's basketball team, Fleury was a member of the Warriors' state championship squad in his sophomore season. As a sophomore he averaged six assists per game and dished out 16 assists in the state championship game to help the Warriors claim the title. He earned Second Team All-Conference honors as a freshman and made the first team as a sophomore. He was also named the Daily Breeze Player of the Year, State Player of the Year, MVP of the state championship game and was named an All-American. He is also recognized as one of the top 75 male athletes in the history of ECC. Fleury would go on to earn a scholarship to Idaho State where he continued his playing career and was named Second Team All-Conference.
  • Delvon Flowers (Football, 1997-98): One of the greatest running backs to grace the field at Murdock Stadium, Flowers ranks in the top-10 in both single-season and career rushing yards in ECC history. He also remains the ECC record holder for most career rushing touchdowns with 28. His 7.3 yards per rushing attempt is also the best mark in Warriors history. Flowers was listed as the No. 1 Junior College player in the nation by Super Prep Magazine and earned All-State honors while being named the Co-State Player of the Year in Region IV in 1998. He would go on to transfer to Arizona State where he was a two-year starter and led the team in kickoff-return yards. He was honorable mention to the All-PAC 10 Team and also won the Clyde B. Smith Academic Award.
  • DeLawrence Grant (Football, 1997-98): A team captain and All-Conference selection as a sophomore in 1998 for the Warriors, Grant played in 22 total games and recorded 123 total tackles (51 solo) in his two-year career. In 1998, Grant turned in his best year with 30 solo tackles and 39 assisted tackles to go along with eight quarterback sacks, six tackles for a loss, three fumble recoveries and eight pass break-ups. The Warriors went 7-3 with Grant as a team captain. He turned his time playing at ECC into a scholarship at Oregon State University where he played two seasons. He earned a First Team All-PAC 10 selection as well as a Second Team All-American nod with the Beavers. As a freshman, Grant recorded 37 total tackles (23 solo), six sacks and four pass break-ups. In his senior season, Grant was a team captain and recorded 41 total tackles (24 solo) with seven sacks, 13 tackles for a loss and four forced fumbles. He also recorded an interception and would go on to be drafted in the third round of the 2001 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders where he would play for five seasons. With the Raiders, Grant played in 49 games with 27 starts and recorded 67 career tackles (45 solo) and was a member of the 2003 Super Bowl team.
  • Paul Landreaux (Men's Basketball Coach, 1979-2004): The greatest men's basketball coach in the history of El Camino College, Paul Landreaux led the Warriors to multiple conference championships during his tenure. He amassed a 290-48 overall record at the helm of the men's basketball program and brought three state championships to ECC. During the 1980-81 state championship year, the Warriors were ranked first in the nation defensively as they allowed just 42.8 points per game to their opponents. Landreaux was named the conference coach of the year six times, state coach of the year three times and was named to the CCCMBCA Hall of Fame. In addition to his accolades at ECC, Landreaux also became an assistant coach at UCLA and a head coach for St. Mary's University.
  • Na'i Leni (Track and Field, 2008-09): Leni was a dominant performer in the shot put for the Warriors, sweeping the South Coast Conference, Southern California Regional and State Championships in the event in both 2008 and 2009. She currently still holds the school record in the shot put with a mark of 52 feet, 8 inches. In addition, Leni ranks second in ECC history in the discus (149 feet, 6 inches) and third in the hammer throw (143 feet, 11 inches). Leni would transfer to Cal State San Marcos where she was ranked No. 1 nationally in the discus (168 feet, 5 inches) and in the shot put in 2011.
  • Mike Littman (Men's Soccer, 1986-87): Littman was the starting goalkeeper for the Warriors in 1986 and 1987. The Warriors were the state runner-up in 1986 but claimed the 1987 state championship. Littman was named to the All-South Coast Conference Second Team and was also an All-SoCal selection in his sophomore season. Littman would go on to transfer to CSUN where he earned All-CCAA honors in 1989. He would give up his final year of eligibility to play soccer professionally, which he did for 14 years. He spent time with the L.A. Galaxy, L.A. Salsa, L.A. Heat and other pro teams during that time.
  • Meghan Peneueta (Women's Basketball, 2015-2017): One of the best women's basketball players to set foot in the ECC North Gym, Peneueta was a two-time All-State selection and South Coast Conference MVP. In her first season, Peneueta averaged 17.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.7 steals per game. She would go for 14.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.0 steals per game in her final year with the Warriors. Overall, Peneueta averaged 15.8 points per game, which currently ranks as the second best scoring average in school history. She also ranks in the top 10 in every major ECC records category. Peneueta transferred to Vanguard University where she played in 47 games and made 33 starts for the Lions. 
  • Ryan Riddle (Football, 2001-02): One of the best defensive players to come out of El Camino College, Riddle was a team captain and named team MVP in his sophomore season in 2002. He is currently ranked No. 3 in ECC history with 19 career sacks and is tied for fourth all-time in single-season sacks with 11 in 2002. Riddle was an All-Conference selection in 2002 as well as a Third-Team J.C. All-American. Riddle would continue his collegiate career at Cal and is still the single-season sack record holder in Bears history with 14.5 sacks in 2004. He is ninth all-time in career sacks with 21.0. He earned First-Team All-PAC 10 and Second Team AP All-American honors. Riddle was selected by the Oakland Raiders in the sixth round of the 2005 NFL Draft and went on to play 17 career games in the NFL over two seasons.
  • Lacretia Smith (Women's Volleyball, 1994-96): A multi-sport athlete at El Camino College, Lacretia Smith competed in volleyball, softball and women's basketball in high school before focusing on volleyball at ECC. She was named First-Team All-South Coast Conference and led the SCC in kills. She would go on to be named to the All-SoCal Regional Team. Smith would move on to Cal State Fullerton where she played on the volleyball team for two seasons.
  • Vuna Tuihalamaka (Football, 2005-06): The all-time leading tackler in a season for El Camino College, Tuihalamaka continues to hold the single season ECC record for most tackles in a season when he tallied 164 in 2006, a record that may never be broken. He ranks seventh in the ECC record books in career tackles with 184. In his time with the Warriors, Tuihalamaka helped lead ECC to the 2006 state championship. He was named to the All-Conference Team and earned J.C. All-American honors in 2006. Following his time with the Warriors, Tuihalamaka moved on to the University of Arizona where he played for the Wildcats for two seasons. In his time in Tucson, Tuihalamaka was named third-team All-PAC 10. In 2009, Tuihalamaka recorded 45 tackles and added 27 assisted tackles with 5.5 tackles for a loss. In two years at Arizona he recorded 95 total tackles (61 solo). He would go on to play in the NFL for the Indianapolis Colts and Seattle Seahawks.
  • Charles White (Men's Basketball, 1986-88): White was named state player of the year and earned consecutive All-American selections in his time at El Camino College. As a freshman, White was named to the All-South Coast Conference First Team and earned his first All-American honors as he helped lead the Warriors to the state final four. As a sophomore, he repeated his individual accolades with All-SCC First Team and All-American honors as he led the SCC in rebounding. White helped lead the Warriors to the conference title as a sophomore and they would go on to win the state championship and finish ranked No. 1 in the nation. White would go on to transfer to Purdue where he helped lead the Boilermakers to consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. He led the Big Ten conference in rebounds in 1990-91 and was named Third Team All Big-Ten. He also played for the United States in the 1994-95 Pan-American Games where he led the team in rebounding, averaging 11 a game. White is also distinguished as one of the top 75 male athletes in the history of El Camino College.
  • Pete Wright, (Meritorious Service: Equipment Attendant, 1989-2022): A staple of the ECC community, Pete Wright worked at ECC for more than 40 years beginning in the mailroom. He joined the physical education department as an equipment attendant in 1989 and was in that position until he retired in 2022. Wright worked in all facets of the athletic department and worked with every athletics program during his time at ECC. In addition, he was a cherished member of the ECC athletics family and was around to watch a number of incredible ECC athletes that went on to further their careers at the next level and the professional ranks.
