Haroldson Named Coach of the Year as All-Conference Teams Announced

2023 Women's Water Polo All-SCC Selections

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College women's water polo head coach Shelby Haroldson was named the SCC Co-Head Coach of the Year as the 2023 All-SCC Teams were announced on Monday.

Haroldson led the Warriors to a third-place finish at the SCC Championships, the best finish for the Warriors in the program's history dating back to when the team was reinstituted in 1995. Overall, the Warriors finished the season with an 8-13 record and a 5-4 mark in conference play. They defeated Cerritos in a sudden-death thriller in the third-place match at the SCC Championships.

In addition to Haroldson, the Warriors had six players selected to the 2023 All-SCC Team. Sophomore Jackie Calhoun earned her second straight selection to the All-SCC First Team after she led the team with 54 goals, 24 assists and 66 steals. She also added nine eight field blocks to place second on the team while playing in 19 matches this season, making 18 starts.

Freshman Yani Camarador joined Calhoun on the first team after a stellar debut season. Camarador scored 47 times and added 18 assists in 19 games played. She led the Warriors with 24 exclusions drawn and recorded four field blocks.

Sophomore Brooke Baudendistel earned an All-SCC Second Team selection after playing in all 21 matches for the Warriors, one of just three players to play in every match for ECC this season. She scored 22 goals on the season and was second on the team with 23 assists and 31 steals. She led the team with nine field blocks.

Melissa Cedarholm also earned a spot on the All-SCC Second Team after scoring 34 goals in 18 matches this season. She added 17 steals and three field blocks while also playing five games in the cage. In 13 quarters at goalie, Cedarholm made 28 saves and posted a 52.8 save percentage, earning one victory.

Allison Camfield and Polina Paumier each earned honorable mention. Camfield scored four goals with nine assists and added 20 steals in 19 matches while Paumier scored 12 goals with 10 assists while playing in all 21 matches for ECC. She also added seven steals and two field blocks.
