Swimming Holds First Meet at New Aquatic Facility

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College hosted its first ever meet at the new ECC Aquatic Facility on Saturday morning and had stellar results to open the 2022 season.

The Warriors had great finishes on both the men's and women's side with a new meet format that requires swimmers to swim three races in one specialty at three different distances with the lowest cumulative time winning the event.

Matt Oswald won the men's breaststroke group (50-yard, 100-yard, 200-yard) with times of 23.51, 50.46 and 1:55.36 to finish with a cumulative time of 4:04.20. He led a trio of Warriors that went 1-2-3 in the discipline with Gary Bellingham taking second (4:10.42) and Steven Olsen finishing third (4:22.72).

Other notable performances included Zach Johnson with a second-place finish in the butterfly and Daniel Fuentes taking second in the men's sprint freestyle group.
