TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College swept day one of the Cypress College Tournament with wins over Rio Hondo and Southwestern on Friday afternoon at the ECC Aquatics Center.
WARRIORS 22, RIO HONDO 10
The result of the opening match was never in doubt after the Warriors jumped out to an 8-2 lead after one quarter and held a 13-4 advantage at the break.
Marc Bugarin scored five times with Zane Johnson, Cooper Josic and Robbie Josic adding three goals apiece in the win. Scott Fujiwara scored twice and dished out four assists.
Sam Adams and Vios Lopez split time in the cage with Adams recording the win, making four saves.
WARRIORS 21, SOUTHWESTERN 13
Max Hale led the Warriors with five goals and added four assists as seven different players scored to close out the day. The Warriors jumped out to a 7-1 lead after one period and then outscored the Jaguars 7-2 in the third quarter to put the match away.
Zane Johnson added four goals with Robbie Josic, Heitor Trefilio and Marc Bugarin all scoring three times. Cooper Josic scored twice and dished out five assists to lead the team in the final match of the day.
