Men's Soccer Hosts Bakersfield In Second Round of Playoffs

TORRANCE, Calif. - The #3 El Camino College men's soccer team CCCAA Southern California Regional second round matchup is set as the Warriors will take on Bakersfield College on Tuesday, November 23rd.

The match will kick off at 7:00 PM at Murdock Stadium.  The winner of this match will play the winner of #2 Cerritos College and #7 Oxnard College on Saturday, November 27th in the 3rd round of the regional bracket.

The Warriors and Bakersfield College previously met each other this season on Tuesday, September 28th at home.  The Warriors came away with a 2-0 victory with Andy Cabrera scoring both goals.  Raymond Montes started at goal in his lone appearance for the season and kept the shutout. 

The Warriors made it to the second round after defeating the #14 Cuyamaca College on Saturday.  The Warriors beat the Coyotes 2-1 in extra time after playing to a 1-1 draw in the regulation period.  Malcolm Holtzman-Cisse and Carson Nguyen scored the goals for the Warriors.

The No.11 Bakersfield College upset the No. 6 Long Beach City College Vikings at a neutral site at Santa Ana College.  The Renegades defeated the Vikings 3-2 in extra time as well after it was 2-2 at the end of regulation.  Anthony Miron, Kevin Ramos, and Marco Guerrero scored for the 'Gades. Bakersfield will be down a player after Chance Shearer was sent off in the 116th minute of the game. 

The Warriors are led by freshman duo Mario Carlos and Andy Cabrera.  Carlos leads the team with 33 points on 14 goals and five assists.  Cabrera is second with 20 points on 7 goals and 6 assists.  Sophomore goalkeeper and South Coast Conference keeper of the year, Luis Garibay leads the defense. Garibay has made 71 saves on the season and has a 15-4-1 record for the season.

The Renegades are 12-5-4 for the season and won the Western State Conference with a 7-0-1 record.  The 'Gades are led by Anthony Miron who leads the team with 22 points on ten goals and two assists.  Adrian Sandoval leads the defense and is 8-3-1 with six shutouts and 52 saves.

Admission: $12 General; $8 Students with valid ID, Seniors over 60, and Children under 12 CASH ONLY.  These ticket prices are set by the CCCAA. Parking is free at El Camino College for the fall semester.
