Men’s Soccer Seeded #3 For CCCAA Regionals

TORRANCE, Calif. - The El Camino College Warriors were given the No.3 seed in the CCCAA Southern California Regional and will host the No.14 seeded Cuyamaca College on Saturday night at Murdock Stadium in the first round of the playoffs.

The Warriors were named the No.3 seed after posting a 16-4-1 record for the season and coming in fourth place in the South Coast Conference postseason tournament.  The Warriors had the third highest power points total (2.2024) in the Southern California region behind conference foes Mt. San Antonio (2.4417) and Cerritos College (2.3625).

The Warriors are led by freshman duo Mario Carlo and Andy Cabrera on the offensive front.  Carlos leads the team with 31 points on fourteen goals and three assists.  Cabrera was second with 20 points on seven goals and six assists.  The Warriors have scored 45 goals for the season and averaged 2.14 goals per game.  They have a +23 goal differential for the season. Sophomore goalkeeper and South Coast Conference keeper of the year, Luis Garibay leads the defense.  Garibay has 70 saves for the season and a 1.21 goals allowed average.  Garibay had a 14-4-1 record for the season. The Warriors defense has posted 10 clean sheets throughout the season.  

The No. 14 seeded Cuyamaca Coyotes won the Pacific Coast Division with a 12-5-3 overall record and 9-1-2 conference record. The Warriors and the Coyotes have played four similar opponents in Compton, Long Beach, Pasadena City, and San Diego Mesa.  The Warriors and Coyotes both went 4-0 against those teams.  Cuyamaca has scored 41 goals and averaged 2.05 goals per game.  They have a 1.11 goals allowed average and a +20 goal differential.  Dylan Lizarazo leads the team with 21 points on three goals and 15 assists.  Jose Perez Munoz is second with 20 points on six goals and eight assists.  The Coyotes have two goalkeepers in Joel Baez and Saul Hernandez.  Baeza was 8-0 and Hernandez was 2-4-2 for the season.

The winner of Saturday's match will face the winner of No.6 seeded Long Beach City College and No.11 Bakersfield College.  That match would be played on either Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.

Kick-off is set for 6:00 PM at Murdock Stadium.  Please note this event is a ticketed event.

Admission: $12 General; $8 Students with valid ID, Seniors over 60, and Children under 12 CASH ONLY.  These ticket prices are set by the CCCAA. Parking is free at El Camino College for the fall semester.
