Men’s Soccer Ranked First in Region, Third in State

CCCSIA Week One Men's Soccer Poll

TORRANCE, Calif. --- The El Camino College men's soccer team is ranked first in Southern California and third in the state according to the first California Community College Sports Information Association men's soccer poll, released Friday.

The Warriors received a total of 147 points in the initial CCCSIA poll of the year, placing them firmly in the top spot in Southern California, 12 points ahead of Golden West. Taft took to top spot in the state with 192 points and Hartnell was second with 185 points. Folsom Lake rounded out the top five in the state with 133 points.

The 2021 campaign has gotten off to a solid start for the Warriors as they've secured three straight wins to begin the season. The team has posted two straight shutouts and outscored their opponents 10-3 in the three matches to start the year.

Mario Carlos leads the team individually with three goals and one assist with Brandon Bautista and Andy Cabrera right behind him with two goals apiece.

The defense has been stellar as well with sophomore Luis Garibay posting a 3-0 record and needing to make only three saves in three matches on the year.

The Warriors will take on Moorpark Friday afternoon at the ECC Soccer Field. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m
