TORRANCE, Calif. --- Sophomore Gabe Hubbard stole the show on Friday night as he notched his first career triple-double to lead El Camino College to a 91-67 non-conference win over Rio Hondo at the ECC Gym Complex.

Hubbard recorded the first triple double in the nine-year tenure of head coach Robert Uphoff and first in the recorded history of this decade. He scored 19 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists.

The last Warriors player to come close to recording a triple-double was Rashon Crutcher during the 2019-20 season. He came one point shy on Jan. 8, 2020 with nine points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists in a 77-67 win over Mt. San Antonio on the road. Just five days prior, he was three rebounds shy as he recorded 11 points, 10 assists and seven boards on Jan. 3, 2020 against East Los Angeles at the ECC Gym Complex.

The Warriors (11-7) used a 19-4 scoring run in the first half to turn a four-point deficit into a double-digit lead and they never looked back, taking a 48-34 lead into halftime.

Out of the break, the Warriors kept up the pressure and led by as many as 30 points to cruise to the victory.

Hubbard completed his triple-double with 4:35 left in the game as he drove the lane and then dished it off to Casey Cook, who laid the ball in easily to give Hubbard his 10th assist. Hubbard would record his 12th rebound with 4:19 left and then was subbed out eight seconds later to put an end to his excellent night.

Hubbard had plenty of help on Friday night as Billy Ray Barnes III led all scorers with 21 points in 25 minutes off the bench, going 9-for-14 from the field and 3-for-4 from the charity stripe. Alexis Maria scored 15 points on 5-for-9 shooting from beyond the arc and Mo Cruz added 14 points.

As a team, the Warriors dished out 21 assists on 39 makes and ran the Roadrunners (4-14) off the floor with a 32-4 edge in fast-break points. They also dominated the battle on the inside with a 60-30 edge in points in the paint while outrebounding the Roadrunners 58-36.

The Warriors will open up South Coast Conference, South Division action on Wednesday night with a road contest at L.A. Southwest with a 7 p.m. scheduled tipoff.
