El Camino College dropped its second straight road contest with a 79-78 defeat at L.A. Pierce in a non-conference game on Wednesday night.
The Warriors (3-6) played a solid game but fell just shy of a road win despite three players scoring in double figures. Justin Chambers led the charge with 20 points and eight rebounds while Justin Reyes pitched in with 18 points, hitting 6-of-8 from 3-point range. Terence Clayton scored 14 points and dished out four assists in the loss.
For the Brahmas (6-3), Kyle Lord led the team with 18 points while Christian Guillory added 17 and Max Edwards scored 15.
It was a tight contest throughout on Wednesday as the game saw eight ties and 18 lead changes. No team ever led by double digits with L.A. Pierce coming the closest with a nine-point lead in the second half.
Both teams shot better than 50 percent from the field and the Warriors hit 12-of-21 from beyond the arc while also winning the turnover battle. But the Brahmas won the rebounding battle (33-24) and turned that into 13 second-chance points while the Warriors managed just four. The Brahmas also won the battle on the inside, outscoring the Warriors 30-20 in the paint.
The Warriors will return to action Friday night with a game at Santa Ana. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
