Warriors Offense Erupts for Season-High 20 Hits to Defeat Compton College

TORRANCE, Calif. - El Camino College utilized a 20-hit attack and masterful pitching to defeat Compton College 15-0 on Tuesday afternoon at Warrior Field.

Kenneth Haus was masterful for the Warriors (22-16, 11-9) as he threw eight shutout innings and allowing only two hits and two walks and striking out nine batters.  Ricky Ramos threw one scoreless inning in relief allowing one hit and one walk and striking out two batters. The Warriors pitching staff held the Compton Tartars (9-29, 1-19) to only three hits.

Ten of the Warrior batters recorded a hit on offense.  Six of the batters recorded multiple hits for the game.  Diego Alarcon went 4-6 at at the plate with one run and one RBI.  Cody Wissler went 3-4 at the plate with two runs scored and two RBIs.  Matthew Beserra went 3-5 with three runs scored and four RBIs, including his 4th home run of the season.  Joseph Borges hit his first home run of the year and went 2-6 at the plate with two runs and four RBIs. Jose Ruiz Jr. went 2-4 at the dish and scored two runs.  Jordan Folgers went 2-5 at the dish and scored two runs.

The Warriors jumped on the Compton starter in the bottom of the second inning and scored three runs off Beserra's home run and never looked back after that.  

The Warriors added two more runs in the fourth inning after Joseph Borges's blast over the left field wall.  They added one more run in the fifth inning after Ruiz Jr. led the inning off with a double and Wissler brought him in with a base hit to center field.  

The Warriors scored three more runs in the seventh inning after Borges hit a bases clearing triple to left-center.   He also scored on the play after the SS for Compton threw a ball into the El Camino dugout that scored Borges on the play.  

The Warriors put the game way beyond reach in the eighth inning by scoring six runs off six hits and one error.  Ruiz Jr. led the inning off by getting on base on a fielding error by the Compton shortstop. Wissler, Folgers, and Beserra hit back to back to back doubles that scored two more runs.  Spencer Long hit a sacrifice fly to left field for the first out of the inning. Alarcon singled up the middle to bring in one run for the Warriors. Taishi Nakawake hit a pinch-hit single to right field before Mateo Gonzalez-Drake hit a pinch-hit single up the middle that scored two more runs before Trevor McInerney struck out to end the inning.

The Warriors will play their second to last game of the regular season and final road game of the regular season on Thursday at Compton College.  First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 PM .
