Conrad’s Four-Hit Day Highlights Warriors’ 18th Straight Win over ECC Compton Center

TORRANCE, Calif. – Left-fielder Ty Conrad was nearly perfect at the plate as El Camino College scored in double digits for the second straight game to down ECC Compton Center, 10-3, Thursday afternoon in a South Coast Conference-South Division tilt at Warrior Field.
Conrad went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs for the Warriors (26-2, 13-0), who extended their winning streak to 18 consecutive games with Thursday's win over the Tartars (8-18, 2-10). The streak is the longest current winning streak in the state and the longest in ECC recorded history.
Cassius Hamm pitched himself out of a few jams and wound up picking up his eighth victory of the season, tossing six innings and allowing two runs on eight hits. He walked three and struck out nine, bringing his season total to 80 strikeouts, the most in the state.
Thomas Stropky, Kenneth Haus and Trevor Talpas each pitched one inning in relief to shut the door on the Tartars.
The game began with some adversity for the Warriors as they fell behind 1-0 in the first inning. Javier Garcia doubled off Hamm with one out in the frame and then advanced to third on a balk with two outs. Miguel Valles then cashed in Garcia with a base hit to put the Tartars out in front.
But the Warriors answered quickly as Conrad began his day with a one-out single in the ECC half of the first. Brady Dorn and Angel Mora walked to load the bases and Ryan Eastburn tied the score with a sacrifice fly to bring in Conrad, one of four sacrifice flies for the Warriors in the game.
The Warriors would go on to score at least a run in the first five innings, capped off by a three-run outburst in the fifth to make it 9-2 and the Warriors never looked back.
Darian Sylvester went 2-for-2 with two doubles, two runs scored and one RBI while Cody Wissler also notched a multi-hit game, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Overall, seven of the nine batters in the Warriors starting lineup drove in at least one run.
The Warriors will look to complete the three-game sweep over the Tartars on Saturday afternoon at the MLB Urban Youth Academy. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
