Warriors Race at Vanguard University Invitational
IRVINE, Calif. - Over the weekend, the El Camino Warriors Cross Country team competed at the Vanguard University Invitational held at Irvine Regional Park. The meet was composed of mostly NAIA Universities, some D2 Universities, and a few community colleges.
The women did well coming in fifth place out of the field of eight scoring teams. Sequoia Gonzalez led the Warriors with a 14th place finish at a time of 19:21. Ami Jacobson was the second finisher and came in 33rd place with a time of 20:43. Rania Gomaa came in 42nd place with a time of 21:32. Haidee Lopez came in 53rd place with a time of 22:36 and Brianna Johnson came in 66th place with a time of 24:04.
The men only ran three competitors because of their longer 8,000 meter (5-mile) course. Stephen Hansen led the men and came in 51st place with a time of 28:53. Dominic Marino came in 68th place with a time of 31:10. Josh Carillo came in 80th with a time of 33:18.
The Warriors will take this week off and compete next at the So Cal Preview in Bakersfield. The field is expected to have a large field of over 25 community colleges.
