Warriors Compete in First Meet of the Season at Mark Covert Classic

RESULTS

BREA, Calif. - On an extremely hot day on Saturday, the El Camino College Cross Country team competed in their first meet of the season at the Mark Covert Classic hosted by Cal State Fullerton.

They raced in a competition consisting of NCAA Division 1 and 2 teams and some other CCCAA schools.

The women came in 12th place in the 5K event.  Sequoia Gonzalez was the top finisher for the Warriors with a time of 20:11 and came in 53rd place overall.  Ami Jacobson came in 96th place with a time of 21:35.  Rania Gomaa came in third for the Warriors in 121st place with a time of 22:25.  Brianna Jacobson (24:02) and Haidee Lopez (24:10) rounded out the top five finishers for the Warriors.

The men came in 13th place overall in the 8K event.  Stephen Hansen was the top finisher for the Warriors in 84th place overall with a time of 28:13. Dominic Marino was the second finisher with a time of 28:59.  Josh Carillo (34:26), James Neely (34:44), and Daniel Flores (42:39) rounded out the top five for the Warriors.

The Warriors will next compete at the Vanguard Invitational on Friday, September 9th at the Irvine Regional Park.
