Warriors Cross Country Compete at the Master’s Invitational

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - El Camino College cross country competed at the Master's University Invitational this weekend at Central Park in Santa Clarita, Calif.  The Warriors competed against a bevy of teams from the NCAA Division I, Division III, NAIA, and fellow CCCAA competitors. 

The Warriors came in a solid 13th place out of the field of 28 teams.  The No.7 ranked nationally Division III team, Claremont Mudd Scripps won the team competition.  Mt. Sac was the highest CCCAA team coming in 6th place. The Warriors placed higher than multiple NCAA DIvision I, Division III, NAIA teams and fellow CCCAA team, LA Harbor. 

The El Camino men were competing in the longer university 8,000m distance (4.97 miles) compared to their usual 4.0 mile distance. Manny Gil led the Warriors Top 7 with a 36tj place and a time of 26:03. Michael Yaskowitz came in 55th place with a time of 26:28. Farooq Tariq came in 69th place with a time of 26:49. Yahia Liban came in 114th place with at time of 27:34. Jonathan Cruz came in 159th place with a time of 28:14. Brian Huang came in 171st place with a time of 28:37 and Eric Hurtado came in 178th place with a time of 28:45 to round out the top seven places. 

Carmen Hernandez competed individually in the women's race and placed a solid 163rd with a time of 20:41.  

The El Camino Cross Country teams are off this weekend and return to competition Friday October 11th at the Irvine "Brubaker" Invitational to be held at Irvine Regional Park.
