Women’s Water Polo Finish Fourth at South Coast Conference Championships

WALNUT, Calif. --- El Camino College placed fourth at the South Coast Conference Championships Saturday after falling to Mount San Antonio, 10-1, in the third place match at Mt. SAC.

The finish marked the best finish for the Warriors since the 2012 season when they placed sixth at the SCC Championships.

The Warriors 2021 season finished with a 10-12 overall record and 4-6 mark in conference play. The 10 victories marked the first time the Warriors recorded double-digit wins in a season since the 2012 season when the team went 15-11 overall.

On Saturday, the Warriors fell to the Mounties as the offense struggled mightily. Kirby Clark scored the Warriors' only goal with Brittan Sanchez notching the assist.

The match was close at the half as the Mounties only led 2-0 after two quarters and only up 4-0 after three. But the Mounties poured in six goals in the final period to safely lock the win away. Clark scored her goal with 4:44 left in the fourth to cut the deficit to 6-1 but that's all the fight the offense could muster for ECC.

Sophia Caravello made 11 saves on the afternoon.
