Warriors Ousted by Cerritos in SCC Tournament

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College and Cerritos battled to another five-set decision on Friday night in the first round of the South Coast Conference Women's Volleyball Tournament.

But, unlike the previous two occasions, the Warriors came up short on this night as they were eliminated by the Falcons, 3-2 (25-22, 18-25, 25-18, 22-25, 13-15) at the ECC Gymnasium.

Brea Rutledge had an excellent game for ECC as she hammered down 20 kills on 58 swings with just five errors for a .259 attack percentage. Adelynn Abrams added 10 kills while Jayden Zabala (25) and Nofoali'i Selu (24) combined for 49 of the team's 56 assists.

For the Falcons, Jayda Harris-Amete led the way with 19 kills and Madison Borja had 18 with Maleah Gonzales adding 10 in the win. Carissa Mendibles added 55 assists and Borja also added four blocks to lead the team.

The Falcons will now face No. 1 seed Pasadena in the semifinals of the tournament, which will be held at the ECC Gymnasium on Saturday.  

The Warriors regular season ends with a record of 13-14 overall.
