Giese and Ito Finish Second at CCCAA State Championships

OJAI, Calif. – Sophomore Madi Giese and Lina Ito advanced to the final but came up just short at the CCCAA Women's Tennis State Championships Sunday at the Ojai Valley Tennis Club in Ojai, Calif.

Giese and Ito finished second after falling to No. 1 seeds Miri Inoue and Nicole Knickerbocker of Orange Coast College in a thrilling three-set match.

Giese and Ito dropped the opening set in a tiebreaker. But the duo bounced back and scored a 6-3 victory in the second set to send the match to a tiebreaker. The Warriors top team hung in there but would fall 10-7 in the third to finish as the CCCAA State Runners-Up.

The duo advanced to the final after sweeping another duo from Orange Coast as they downed Camryn Mason and Shayee Sherif in straight sets; 6-4, 6-3.
