TORRANCE, Calif. - The El Camino College Warriors women's soccer team dropped their home opener to Santa Monica College 2-0 on Friday afternoon at Warrior Field.

The Warriors and Corsairs both had 14 shots with the Warriors having more corner kicks as well.

The Warriors best chance to score came in the 45th minute as Leah Garcia hit the crossbar. However, the Corsairs scored during the first half stoppage time as Erika Bautisa sent a ball to the top of the box and Kobe Aguilar found the corner of the net to make it a 1-0 game.

The Warriors were the aggressor coming out of the halftime break with a couple shots but couldn't find the breakthrough. As the Warriors were pushing for an equalizer, Santa Monica was able to put the game away in the 84th minute on a counter attack after Giah Holman raced past the Warriors backline for a 1v1 with the Warriors keeper and was able to put it past her to make it a 2-0 game.

Jordan Stemberga made five saves for the game.

The Warriors will stay at home to host Norco next Wednesday in a scheduled doubleheader with the men's team.  The women's soccer team will play first at 1:00 p.m.
