Women’s Soccer Dominates Pasadena at Home

TORRANCE, Calif. -  The El Camino College women's soccer team wrapped up their non-conference schedule with a lopsided 3-1 victory over Pasadena City College on Friday afternoon at the ECC Soccer Field.

The Warriors (3-4-1) were dominant for most of the game and on the offense, the Warriors outshot the Lancers (20-to-8) with eleven of them being shots on goal compared to Pasadena's (3-7) five shots on goal.

El Camino College got the game rolling early after Sierra Rangel scored her second goal of the season in the 6th minute.  Kayla Dombrowski played a ball down the left side to Angelica Taylor who was able to beat her defender and whip in a ball to Rangel in the center of the 6-yard box.  Rangel's foot got to the ball before the Lancer defender and was able to send it in to the near post past the keeper.

Angelica Taylor had a golden chance to double the advantage in the 19th minute after Meila Bissoondial beat her defender and played a ball to Taylor inside the 6-yard box.  However, Taylor's shot clanked off the underside of the crossbar.  The Warriors then took the opportunity to rest most of the starters midway through the first half after a scheduled water break.

Pasadena City scored quickly into the second half after a great through ball by Emelyn Meza to Bertha Guzman.  The Warriors tried to play an offsides trap but Guzman was able to stay onside and round the Warrior keeper and slot the ball into an open net.

The Warrior would respond a couple minutes later in the 55th minute with a game-winning goal by Julia Ausland.  Ausland played a give-and-go with Angelica Taylor on the right side of the box and Ausland shot it right through the Pasadena keeper into the net to make it a 2-1 game for the Warriors.

Ausland would add to her tally a couple minutes later to make it a 3-1 game.  Sophia Zaragosa stole the ball at midfield and passed to Kayla Zombrowski. Dombrowski passed to Oliva Farias who played a ball to Meila Bissoondial on the left side of the box.  Bissoondial torched her defender and sent a cross to Ausland who was making a run on the opposite side and was able to one-time a shot into the open net for her second goal of the game.

Karlee Clark started in goal for the Warriors and made four saves and picked up her third win of the season.

The Warriors begin South Coast Conference play next week starting with a home game against Compton on Tuesday, October 5th.  Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00 PM after the men's game
