Women’s Soccer Blanked for Third Straight Match

TORRANCE, Calif. – Goalkeeper Kelly Gallagher had a career day in net with double-digit saves but the offense struggled once again as El Camino College fell to visiting Fullerton College 3-0 Friday afternoon at the ECC Soccer Field.

Gallagher made 13 saves for the Warriors (0-3-0) but the offense managed just four shots on the day as they were shutout for the third straight match to start the year. Alexandria Katsouridis, Melisia Medina and Monica Bernardino each recorded a shot on goal for the Warriors in the loss.

The teams were deadlocked in a scoreless draw after the first half but the Hornets wasted little time in the second half to get on the board as Jacqueline Ramirez broke open the scoring in the 52nd minute. Kaelah Basurto followed with a goal 20 minutes later and Rocio Martinez-Marquina finished off the scoring in the 87th minute.

The Warriors return to action on Tuesday with a road contest at San Diego Miramar. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. The Warriors will not be back at the ECC Soccer Field until October 4 when they host Cerritos for their second game of South Coast Conference play.
