Warriors Blitzed by East Los Angeles in SoCal Crossover Title Game

TORRANCE, Calif. – El Camino College played in its fourth tournament final this season but came away with its third runner-up finish after falling 71-51 to East Los Angeles in the championship game of the SoCal Crossover Challenge hosted by the Warriors at the ECC North Gym.

Salihah Bey led the Warriors (13-5) with 15 points but struggled from the field, going 6-for-16 on the night. Jordan Hixon was named to the All-Tournament Team after posting a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds on Friday night. Makenna Peneueta was also named All-Tournament after leading the Warriors with seven assists to lead all players.

The Huskies (17-4) were led by Tournament MVP Dominique Godbolt's 13 points and 16 rebounds while All-Tournament selections Jaelynn Curley and Adriana Gonzalez added 12 and six points respectively.

The Warriors were outscored 34-23 in the second half as the Huskies pulled away, scoring 17 points off 14 ECC turnovers in the final 20 minutes of action. The Huskies also dominated the inside with 52 rebounds including 22 on the offensive glass.

The Warriors will return to action Friday, January 18 on the road at Bakersfield.
