Michael Grissett joined the staff in 2001 season and brings a wealth of expertise and experience in the horizontal jumping events. Over the years, Grissett has had tremendous success with his jumpers at ECC. Some of his recent jumpers include State Triple-Jump Champion Star Thurman, 2011 State TJ Champion Derion Taylor, and 2011 State TJ Champion Rukayah Bent-Mikail....who also happens to be his daughter. . Rukayah backed-up her 2011 State TJ Title with yet another in 2012 and is now attending UC Berkeley. Grissett was a standout jumper while competing at Chico State University under Coach Kirk Freitas and holds a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Education and recently completed his Doctorate.
