Bio

Kevin Hughley joined the staff in the fall of 1993 after a successful nine years at Gardena High School. Kevin brings a tremendous wealth of experience and skill in the sprints, jumps, hurdles, and pole vault where he still holds a spot on the ECC All-Time Top 10 Performer List at 15-6 while a student-athlete. His athletes' athletic and academic accomplishments are too extensive to put in text. Some of his proudest moments are Monique McClure placing 2nd in back-to-back State Championships while winning the 2000 State Title in the javelin prior to transfer to the University of Mississippi. Keith Davis won State Titles in the 400 Intermediate Hurdles in 2000 and 2002 and was amongst the USA's finest hurdler's in 2002 and 2003. Over the years, Kevin's athletes have re-written the ECC record books in the sprint, hurdles, jumps, and multi-events. Sprinter Roy Alugbue (USC) was the first ECC sprinter in two decades to win the conference 100/200 double before earning his way to USC. In 2011, Shale' Garland won the 400m and 200m State Titles while also setting the school-record in the 200m. Also in 2011, pole-vaulter Kara Kalmar (CSUF) and set a new school-record 11-8 which was broken in 2012 at 12-0 by Katrina Wilbanks (CSUN).  We are very fortunate to have such a caring and dedicated former Warrior on staff! Hughley works in the Downey Unified School District and resides in Torrance with wife Maria. His son Kevin Jr. is a senior at  Ohio State University.
