Warriors Send Multiple Athletes to CCCAA So Cal Regional Finals

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The El Camino College Track and Field qualified over 30 student-athletes into the CCCAA Southern California Regional Finals after competing this past week in the CCCAA So Cal Regional Prelims.  The men's team qualified 17 student-athletes and two relay teams while the women's team qualified 12 student-athletes and one relay team.  Some individuals have also already qualified for the state finals tournament after previous results and events that had their final this weekend.  

Some people that have already qualified for the state finals are Shea Wissler (Decathalon), Jay Rhambo in the Hammer,  and Matt Arruda in the 10,000m run.

The men's team had some fantastic performances and were able to send multiple people into this week's regional finals event. They were able to qualify three representatives in the 400m hurdles and the 1500m finals, and two representatives in the 110m hurdles and the 3,000m steeplechase. 

Christopher Pitts qualified in the 400m dash after running a 47.92.  

Corey Ricketts had the 9th fastest 800m time after running a 1:57.99 .  He is two seconds behind the number one seed at 1:55.85.

Carson Bix (4:03.94), Victor Akende (4:07.00) and Manny Gil (4:07.27) are all qualified for the 1500m final. The top seed Chris Weiland of Mt. Sac ran a 3:58.59.

Patrick Washington is third in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.56. Timothy Mates is fourth with a time of 15:00.

Qwintin Workman is the top seed in the 400m hurdles with a time of 53.78. Timothy Mates is second with a time of 54.10. Patrick Washington is sixth with a time of 55.60.

Caleb Ko is the third seed in the 3000m steeplechase. He ran a 35.57. Ethan Comeaux is eighth with a time of 9:52.35.

The 4 x 100m relay team is third with a time of 42.02. The team consists of Jordan Baylis, Timothy Mates, Christopher Pitts, and Landon Sharp.

The 4 x 400m relay team is the fourth seed with a time of 3:14.51. The team consists of Alec Froning, Timothy Mates, Mario Marsetti, and Andre Nieto

Jordan Baylis tied for 7th palce in the high jump with a jump of 1.85 meters. There are sixth competitors who tied for first with a mark of 1.90 meters.

Qwintin Workman is fifth in the long jump with a mark of 6.74 meters (22-1.5).

The womens' team has qualified 12 individuals to the regional finals and at least one athlete has already earned her qualification to the state tournament. 

Elizabeth Ibidunni is fifth in the 400m dash with a time of 59.29

Savannah Sehenuk is 9th in the 1500m with a time of 5:04.18. Carmen Hernandez is right behind her in 10th with a time of 5:08.39.

The 4 x 100 relay team is in eighth with a time of 50.60. The team consists of Samantha Ealy, Aaliyah Graves, Aliyah Grissett, and Elizabeth Ibidunni.

Samantha Ealy is fourth in the triple with a mark of 11.22 meters (36-9.75). Aliyah Grissett is right behind her in fifth with a mark of 11.12 meters (36-5.75).

Jay Rhambo came in third in the hammer finals and qualified for state with a mark of 43.83 meters (143-9). Kyja Free came in seventh with a mark of 41.19 meters (135-2). She may potentially qualify for state as an at-large.

The Warriors will now compete at the CCCAA Southern California Regional Finals this weekend at the same venue, Riverside City College.  While some have already for the state tournament finals in San Mateo, the Warriors are looking to send more to join them.
