Track and Field Shines at Second Annual El Camino College Invitational

TORRANCE, Calif. – El Camino College scored a pair of victories Friday as the Warriors hosted the second El Camino College Invitational at Murdock Stadium.

On the men's side, the Warriors tallied 188.75 points to claim the top spot overall while the women scored 129 points to take first place as well.

With the men, the Warriors posted number of victories at the 39-event meet. Qwintin Workman made his debut in the 400 Int. Hurdles and took home first place with a time of 52.68, which also made him the new leader in the state.

Caleb Ko took first place in the 3,000m Steeplechase with a time of 9:38.98, which was the No. 2 time in the state this year.

Matt Arruda also scored a victory for the Warriors as he won the 3,000m race with a time of 8:55.24 against two large fields.

The men's relay teams also showed extremely well as the 400m relay team took first with a time of 42.60 while the 1600m relay squad won with a time of 3:18.93.

In addition, the Distance Medley Relay team finished in 10:34.11 to secure first place in that event.

On the women's side, Jay Rhambo scored a pair of victories in the field events with wins in the Hammer Throw (41.73m) and the Shot Put (11.28m). She also recorded a second-place finish in the Discus.

Kyja Free would win the Discus event with a mark of 34.63m while finishing second in the both the Hammer Throw and the Shot Put.

Samantha Ealy secured a victory in the triple jump with a mark of 11.23m and the 1600m relay team of Elizabeth Ibudinni, Aaliyah Graves, Ealy and Ashley Reamer scored a first-place finish on Friday.

Chris Pitts 48.61 400m for 2nd Place= #10 in State!

Savannah Sehenuk (2nd in 11:16.37) and Deana Takoaka (3rd in 11:24.14) in the 3,000m

Women's 2nd place Distance Medley Relay @ 13:41.66

Tim Mates 14.97 in the 110HH = #8 in State!

Victor Akende 2nd in 800m @ 1:57.66 = #11 in State!
