Five Individual Conference Titles for the ECC Track and Field Team at the SCC Championships

TORRANCE, Calif. - El Camino College's track and field teams completed a solid day of work on Friday at Murdock Stadium by winning five individual conference titles and advancing 16 individuals and two relays on the men's side and 14 individuals and two relay teams on the women's side to Saturday's Southern California Regional Prelims.  The men and women each finished in third place in the total team points category. The men's team came in third place with 126 points and the women's team came in third place with 73 points.

Carson Bix won the double in the 1500m/800m competitions, a feat that only one other male competitor has achieved for El Camino College in history's past.  Bix won the 800m with a time of 1:56.77 and his teammate Spencer Coneybeare came in third place in the same race with a time of 1:57.39. Bix won the 1500m race with a time of 4:03.44.  Bix also advanced to the regional prelims in the 5,000m race because of his state #3 14:32.41 time ran earlier this season.

Jasher Foster won the 110m hurdles race with a time of 14.21.   Foster remains undefeated against CCCAA competitors in that race and currently owns the state's highest mark with a 14.13 ran earlier this season.  Foster also came in second place in the 400m hurdles race with a time of 52.46. Teammate Timothy Mates came in fifth place in the 400m race with a time of 56.68.  

Tate Curran continued his dominance of the pole vault and won with a height of 4.80 meters (15-9 feet).  Tate is currently the CCCAA state-leader with his 16-8 ¾ height (and 17-4 ½ indoor).

The first place finish in the 1600m relay (4x400) capped a fantastic day for the Warrior's men's competitors.  Larry Hudson and Wyatt Davidson ran the first two legs for the Warriors while Mt. Sac built a solid lead after the first two legs.  Dharan Woods made up some ground on the Mounties in the third leg before handing the baton off to Qwintin Workman for the final leg.  Workman made up ground on the Mt. Sac anchor leg quickly and took control of the race within the last 100 meters to complete the victory in a dramatic low 47 second split.

Wyatt Davidson came in second place in the 400m dash with a time of 49.31.  Caleb Ko came in third place in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 9:44.72.  Matt Arruda came in third place in the 10,000m race with at time of 33:39.41. Anthonee Parker came in fifth place in the javelin throw with a thrown of 40.33m.  The 4x100 relay team (Foster, Justin Moore, Workman, and Woods) came in second place with a time of 41.67.

Over on the women's side, the Warriors also had posted fantastic marks.  

Brianna Harmon came in 4th place in both the 800m and the 1500m races.  Harmon came in 4th in the 800m with a time of 2:28.53. Harmon came in 4th place in the 1500m with a time of 5:02.97.  Teammate Savannah Sehenuk came right behind her in the 1500m race for a 5th place finish with a time of 5:05.17. Harmon came in 6th place in the 5000m race with a time of 19:36.05.  

Elizabeth Ibidunni came in 5th place in the 100m dash with a time of 12.60.  

Deana Takaoka and Sarah Simpson qualified for regionals in the 10,000m run with their 5th and 6th place finishes.  Takaoka came in 5th place with a time of 42:20.07 while teammate Simpson came in 6th place with a time of 42:34.17.

Tyra Jackson had a solid overall day by competing in multiple events.  She came in fifth place in the heptathlon with 3,603 points. Jackson came in 6th place in the 100m hurdles with a time of 16.00 which secured her a spot in the regionals for Saturday.  Jackson came in 5th place in the long jump with a jump of 5.13 meters. Jackson came in 5th place in the triple jump with a jump of 10.40 meters.

Kyja Free came in 5th place in the hammer throw with a throw of 36.72 meters.  Marie Abe came in 4th place in the pole vault by pole vaulting 3.05 meters.

The 4x100 meter relay team consisting of Sheniya Mason, Jackson, Stephanie Elizardeand Ibidunni came in 3rd place with a time of 50.58.  The same quartet came in 3rd place in the 4x400 meter relay race with a time of 4:10.31.

For the Warriors who qualified for the Southern California Regional Prelims, they will compete again on Saturday, May 5th at San Diego Mesa College.  The 10,000 meter run and the hammer throw will serve as the Southern California Regional Finals.
