Softball Nets Four All-Conference Selections, One Honorable Mention

2022 All-South Coast Conference Team

TORRANCE, Calif. --- The El Camino College softball team had four players named to the 2022 All-South Coast Conference Team and one player named honorable mention, it was announced Thursday.

Kayla Inzunza, Leesa Parral, Liz Cortez and Alyssa Lujan all netted spots on the All-Conference team with Leah Madden getting honorable mention.

Inzunza locked down a spot on the first team as she led team with 58 hits on the season. She posted a .426 batting average, .455 on-base percentage and .632 slugging percentage for the Warriors this season. Inzunza played in all 39 games and scored 39 runs to go along with 17 doubles, four triples, one home run and 27 RBI to go along with 21 stolen bases. Inzunza was the hardest Warriors player to strikeout as she only fanned three times in 136 at-bats while drawing seven walks.

Parral secured the other first-team spot for the Warriors as she also played in all 39 games. She recorded 45 hits and a .341 batting average with 10 doubles, four triples, one home run and 27 RBI, which tied for the team lead with Inzunza. She stole 18 bases without being caught once and posted a .378 on-base percentage along with a .500 slugging percentage.

Lujan had an outstanding freshman campaign for the Warriors as she earned a spot on the second team. She led the Warriors in batting average (.432), on-base percentage (.493), and slugging percentage (.703). Lujan led the state with 11 triples during the regular season. She also had 10 doubles and stole 14 bases to go along with 10 walks, the second most on the team.

Liz Cortez wrapped up her Warriors career with a second team selection. She played in all 39 games and doubled as the Warriors top pitcher. With the bat, she hit .291 with six doubles, four triples and 19 RBI. In the circle, Cortez had 28 appearances with 20 starts. She posted a 12-9 record with eight complete games. She pitched a team high 120 and 2/3 innings and posted a 2.96 ERA, the best on the team.

Madden received honorable mention in her first year at ECC. She led the team with 17 walks, 41 runs scored and 34 stolen bases. She played in every game this season and posted a .355 batting average with 43 hits including two doubles and four triples. Madden had 23 RBI for third most on the team.
