Softball Drops Two Games on Saturday

TORRANCE, Calif. --- El Camino College suffered a pair of losses to Cypress and College of the Canyons on Saturday at the ECC Softball Field.

The Warriors dropped a 4-2 decision to Cypress in the first game of the day and then closed out the day with a 5-2 loss to Canyons.

Alyssa Lujan and Jamelah Lewis each had RBI singles in the sixth for the Warriors against Cypress, accounting for all of the team's runs in the game. The Warriors managed just five hits and committed three errors in the loss. Despite the struggles, the Warriors did load the bases in the bottom of the seventh but Leesa Parral grounded out to end the game.

Against the Cougars, the Warriors had eight hits but three hitters accounted for six of them as Liz Cortez, Kayla Inzunza and Lujan all had two hits.

The Warriors trailed 4-0 in the sixth where they once again scored twice with RBI singles from Inzunza and Leah Madden to cut the deficit in half, but that's all the offense would be able to manage.

The Warriors return to action on Monday with a non-conference game against Orange Coast. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
