Softball beats East Los Angeles on the Road

MONTEREY PARK, Calif. - The Warriors won their eleventh game in a row as they defeated East Los Angeles 5-3 at their field on Wednesday afternoon.

El Camino (26-6, 17-2) pounded out twelve hits for the game compared to the Huskies (14-15, 7-10) total of seven hits.  

Jocelyn Hernandez picked up her eleventh win inside the circle as she tossed the complete game.  Hernandez gave three runs on seven hits and struck out four batters.

Mina Nakawake was a perfect 4-for-4 from the plate and scored two runs.  Diamond Lewis, Jocelyn Hernandez, and Brooklyn Araujo each picked up two hits in the contest.

The Warriors loaded the bases early in the first inning and were able to push across two runs to take a 2-0 lead to start the game.  East Los Angeles got one run back in the bottom half of the inning.

In the third inning, Marissa Garza singled in Nakawake from second base to make the score 3-1.  Diamond Lewis led off the fourth inning with her fourth home run of the year to make it a 4-1 game.

East Los Angeles closed to within run late in the game when they pushed across two runs in the sixth inning to make it 4-3.  

However, the Warriors were to add an insurance run in the fifth inning when Brookyln Araujo scored Nakawake to make it a 5-3 game.  

The Warriors continue their long week with a game at LA Harbor on Thursday at 3:00 PM.
